Mike and Kari Enmon, Owners – The desire to build a pet resort had been brewing in Mike Enmon’s mind long before he mentioned it to his wife Kari.
He saw the way Kari loved and cared for their
Miniature Pinscher, Wishbone and Labrador
Retrievers, Sam, Bo, Isaac, Amen and Mason and
her habit of filling her office with photos of
her four-legged babies. He laughed at pictures of
Kari with her childhood companion, Barney (a
Beagle), who was always by her side and was the
subject of countless photos he patiently posed
for.
In May 2008, Mike casually suggested the idea of building a pet resort to Kari and she latched on to it like a “dog with a bone” (pardon the pun!). After over two years of extensive research and training about all aspects of designing, building, operating and managing a premier luxury pet resort and spa, Mike and Kari’s dream came true when Kickapoo Ranch Pet Resort opened for business.
Mike has a BBA from Texas A&M and an MBA from
the University of Chicago and has seen success
in the banking industry, including investment
banking in New York and corporate lending in
Houston. Prior
to his banking career, until the age of 28, Mike
operated his family farm, which consisted of a
quarter of a million chickens, hundreds of head
of cattle as well as timber and hay production.
Mike, an avid duck hunter, appreciates the
companionship of a good gun dog and has enjoyed
training numerous Labrador Retriever pups
through basic training, until the pups moved on
to advanced American Kennel Club Field Trial or
gun dog training. He also has countless years of
experience training and competing with his own
Labrador Retrievers in Field Trials and is a
licensed Retriever Field Trial judge.
Mike directs the training program at Kickapoo
Ranch Pet Resort; personally working with every
dog enrolled in obedience training, and is a
consultant on all other aspects of the facility.
Kari graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a degree in accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant.
In
her corporate career spanning almost 20 years,
Kari was highly valued for her attention to
detail, leadership and project management
skills. As owner and manager of Kickapoo
Ranch Pet Resort, Kari now has her dream job, a
career that provides her with the opportunity to
spend the day surrounded by dogs and cats, and
also to work with a great team that shares her
love of animals. Kari feels blessed to be able
to spend her days caring for her guests and also
finds it extremely rewarding to know she is
providing valuable care and services to pet
parents and their beloved companions.
